What’s it like?
The newly opened Royal Elephant Hotel & Conference Centre has been built and decorated withMoroccoin mind, giving you a feeling of relaxed opulence from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave. The authentic Moroccan theme is carried throughout the hotel.
Where is it?
It is situated in Bondev Park, in Eldoraigne, Centurion on the corner of Wierda and Willem Botha Roads. Bordering the Hennops River Nature Reserve, the hotel has the feel of being completely away from the city.
Rooms
There are 41 luxury suites, the Honeymoon Suite, Presidential Suite and the Family Suite. They are all furnished with large, carved wooden furniture and leather couches. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with twin hand basins, a bath and a large, open shower. All the standard features are also available.
Restaurants
The main restaurant is the Charcoal Grill, Buffet and Wine Cellar. Guests can choose to dine in the main restaurant or retreat downstairs to the cellar for a more intimate meal. For breakfast and lunch, guests can go to the less formal Fezorati Coffee Shop. There is also a Cigar lounge, upstairs from the Grill where guests can sit and enjoy a hubbly bubbly with no worries of the smoke bothering the other guests. The Oasis Resident’s Bar provides a casual setting next to the swimming pool where you can enjoy a cocktail and a snack or have an informal meeting.
Business Facilities
The Royal Elephant Hotel offers seven function rooms, all equipped with projectors and pull down screens. There are three smaller boardrooms, with a private lounge between them for smaller, less formal meetings. The larger Larache Plenery room can accommodate up to 120 people, and the El Jadida video conference room. Bondev House is located a short walk from the hotel and can accommodate a much larger crowd of up to 600 guests, and the Bondev Chapel can hold up to 200.
Leisure Facilities
The Africology Spa is located on the first floor and provides a selection of treatments to spoil yourself with. There is also a fully equipped fitness room, and a swimming pool.
Verdict
I enjoyed everything about this hotel, from the rooms to the restaurants, to the food and décor. It feels like stepping into Morocco. The only thing that bothered me was the volume level of the speakers in the corridors. It was a bit loud for 23h00, and also came on briefly the next morning, but hopefully these kinks will be ironed out soon.
