Lufthansa is investing in innovative technology. Just in time for the Northern hemisphere summer travelling season, passengers at Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg airports in Germany can now take advantage of the 39 baggage machines and check their luggage in themselves.
Passengers who have already received their boarding pass by checking in online, via a mobile device or at a check-in machine within 23 hours of departure, can make their way to one of the baggage machines and send their luggage on its journey themselves, without having to queue. Customers then pass directly through security and go to their gate.
This service was tested in Munich and Frankfurt over a number of months last year. Due to the positive feedback from customers and the high level of use, this service has now been expanded.
