Tanzania waives travel visa for South Africans

According to eTurboNews, Tanzania’s government has abolished visa requirements for South African citizens, making the country more attractive to tourists from down south.

Mango, a South African low-cost carrier, is already flying twice a week between Johannesburg and Zanzibar, after “upgrading” the flight from charter to a scheduled service.

Still pending is the start of flights by fastjet from Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg. (See story here.)

Tanzania, besides being a member of the East African Community, is also a member of SADC and as such has been keen in recent months to accelerate economic and political co-operation with SADC’s lead nation South Africa.
