Delta Air Lines and Travelport have finalised an agreement in which Delta will reacquire the data and intellectual property rights central to its passenger service and flight operations systems.
The agreement will aid Delta’s effort to rethink and reshape the airline business through the transfer of operations and direct control of Delta’s passenger service systems and flight operations systems. The development software, which does not require a technology migration and thus has no effect on Delta customers, will also be part of the transfer.
Travelport will continue to be a key partner of Delta’s by running the system infrastructure for the Delta platform in its Atlanta data centre. The transition of more than 175 technology professionals to Delta will be effective 1 July.
There will be no impact on Delta and Travelport’s existing Global Distribution Systems agreement, which was previously renewed in 2013.
