Airlink will commence operating double daily flights between Johannesburg and Gaborone from 20 January 2014.
With the addition of this route, Airlink will now be servicing three destinations in Botswana – Gaborone, Kasane and Maun.
The Johannesburg-Gaborone service is targeted at the growing number of corporate travellers looking to visit Botswana on a same day return basis.
Airlink’s new morning flights, which will operate weekdays Monday to Friday, will depart Johannesburg at 07h20 and arrive in Gaborone at 08h15. The return morning flight departs Gaborone at 08h55, arriving in Johannesburg at 09h50.
Airlink’s afternoon flights depart Johannesburg at 17h30 and arrive in Gaborone at 18h25, with the return flight departing Gaborone at 19h05, arriving in Johannesburg at 20h00.
Flights will operate using one of Airlink’s fleet of 10 Avro RJ85 83-seat regional jets.
For some time now, the Johannesburg-Gaborone route has featured amongst the most expensive regional routes in Southern Africa, and Airlink hopes to offer more attractive fares and further choice for business person travelling to Botswana. Additional benefits for Airlink travellers include Voyager miles.
In mid-2014, Airlink will also connect Nelspruit in South Africa with Vilanculous on the coast of Mozambique (see story here).
