De Hoek Country Hotel is a 5-star country house in Magaliesburg, to the north and west of Johannesburg and approximately an hour’s drive from South Africa’s main business travel destination. The hotel has grown from a small seven-bedroom house into a 20-room luxury boutique hotel, and is ideal for country getaways, secluded meetings, small conferences and team-building trips.
“It’s unfathomable to me why conference organisers subject their clients and colleagues to congested traffic, followed by badly-ventilated, poorly-lit venues in hard-to-park areas, and then reward them with plastic food at lunch time,” laughs Michael Holenstein, co-owner of De Hoek Country Hotel.
Holenstein has reason to smile. This 5-star country retreat has an environment which lends itself to creative, productive and results-driven meetings and conferences. And now De Hoek is extending its services and facilities.
From November, the following will be available:
The rooms are being extended and the hotel will offer 32 rooms in total, including two presidential suites with separate lounge areas and a private dining room. Two of the new rooms will have wheelchair access and all have satellite TV, Nespresso coffee machines, mini-bar, iPod docking stations and CD players. Wi-Fi is complimentary and available throughout the property.
Up to 60 conference delegates can be accommodated at De Hoek. There are two conference rooms, three breakaway rooms and several options for dining/entertainment areas, ensuring an easy flow and comfortable space for activities and discussion groups. Seating formats depend on the room being used and the number of delegates, but all configurations can be accommodated. The smaller rooms are ideal for executives who are meeting with out-of-town clients and want somewhere luxurious, tranquil and well-serviced. The conference rooms are all equipped with standard high-quality accessories, from standard flip charts to data projectors and additional equipment such as Polycom audio conferencing, recorders, video conference equipment and microphones, which are all available for hire.
De Hoek is renowned for its exquisite cuisine and conference goers aren’t excluded from the delicious fare that is produced by the hotel’s culinary team. Their innovative creations and fresh produce-based menus can accommodate all dietary preferences, and the team considers it an entertaining break from their traditional offerings, to create themed or outdoor meals for specific occasions and requests. And they still do it in 5-star style!
For the very necessary leisure breaks in between the deep thinking, De Hoek can provide delegates and guests with team-building options, as well as archery, clay pigeon shooting, spa treatments, mountain walks and off-road biking. Theme evenings and entertainment (from motivational speakers to ventriloquists) are available on site too.
Those who already have De Hoek in their black book of conferencing secrets, will be delighted to learn that Stonebridge House is being extended to include a bistro restaurant, a less formal coffee-shop type venue which will serve signature De Hoek dishes and regional specialities.
Two conference packages are currently available, and rates are valid until 31 December 2013.
