Enugu now has an international airport

Nigeria’s south-east region welcomed its first international commercial passenger flight at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport last week.

Ethiopia Airlines was the first carrier to fly into the newly remodelled airport – it flew passengers from Addis Ababa to Enugu and will fly this route four times a week. Other airlines have shown interest in flying to Enugu and, according to the Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, the country’s national carrier will begin operating to Akanu Ibiam by the end of the year.

Now, travellers can eliminate a lengthy trip to Lagos or Abuja before boarding an international flight. This will cut the cost and time of international travel.
