Etihad Airways will deploy the new Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner on selected routes from December 2014.
The Airbus A380 will serve on the three daily flights between Abu Dhabi and London and selected flights to Sydney. Between December 2014 and June 2015 the Boeing 787-9 will be introduced on six of its routes, including Düsseldorf, Doha, Washington DC, Mumbai, Brisbane and Moscow. Etihad will also debut its new First, Business and Economy Class products on the forthcoming aircraft. The Residence by Etihad™, which is a three-room cabin in the sky will be introduced on the Airbus A380. James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, said: “The Airbus A380 and Boeing 787-9 will play a fundamental role in the development of Etihad Airways’ network”.
In preparation for their entry into service Etihad commenced with an extensive training programme. A total of 149 pilot have been receiving a combination of simulator and classroom training since February.
