Fastjet’s inaugural flight between Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and Harare (Zimbabwe) on 5 August marked the launch of the low-cost airline’s third international route across Africa, and the only direct air link between the two African capital cities.
Previously, those wishing to travel between Dar es Salaam and Harare had to spend at least two days travelling the approximately 2,200 kilometres by road, or fly via Nairobi (Kenya) or Johannesburg (South Africa).
Originally planned as a twice weekly operation, on Tuesday and Saturday, demand has been so strong that fastjet will add a third flight, on Thursday, at the end of September.
