Legacy Hotels and Resorts is adding more luxury to nine of its hotel, resort, bush lodge and spa establishments, with a series of transformations.
The Michelangelo’s Il Ritrovo Lounge, entrance lobby and the upstairs Early Arrivals Lounge have been revamped. The 19-year-old establishment’s overall classic ‘Italianesque’ theme has been retained, with a more modern classic feel, which blends into the existing architecture.
DAVINCI Hotel & Suites conference and boardroom facilities have received an additional 120-seater conference, events and/or ballroom area on the same level as the Maximillien Restaurant.
All the bedrooms at the Commodore in Cape Town are being refurbished to a 5-star standard, including a complete redesign of the famous Imperial Suite and the 12 other suites.
Tshukudu Bush Lodge has received solar power panels to reduce its dependence on generators. In addition, four new suites are currently being developed, bringing the total accommodation to 10 lodges.
The recently-completed 24 luxury lodges and suite additions at the Bakubung Bush Lodge in the Pilanesburg area of South Africa bring the total capacity at Bakubung to 100 rooms. A new spa with four freestanding massage rooms, two open-air facilities, a heated plunge pool and indoor/outdoor ‘mani and pedi’ area is scheduled to open in September.
Legacy has also just completed the three ‘mock-up’ rooms that reflect the new room design prototypes for the refurbishment of the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre in Namibia. The project will be carried out on a phased basis, which will give all of its 90 hotel rooms a new look.
Also in Namibia, the Windhoek Country Club Hotel has completed the refurbishment of its original conference centre. All 150 hotel rooms will also be refurbished on a phased basis, with the bulk of the work being undertaken offsite.
In Nigeria, Legacy will extend the Wheatbaker Hotel by an additional 50 rooms and associated public areas on a site adjacent to the hotel. Once completed, the extension will offer 115 executive rooms, including two presidential and six luxury suites.
