The Protea Hotel Balalaika in Sandton, Johannesburg, has completed the refurbishment of its public areas.
The hotel’s new public spaces are reminiscent of a gentlemen’s club – with a modern twist.
The lounge and lobby area have been refurbished in soft greys, blues and greens with rich texture incorporated into the design through embossed wallpaper, opulent silk cushions and sweeping high-backed chairs.
The hotel’s Lords Cigar Bar retains the feeling of a stylish private saloon with dark wood panelling, button-back seats and touches of deep red to finish the design.
The banqueting and conferencing level has also been given a facelift with new wallpaper, carpets, light fittings, furniture and crystal chandeliers in the Oxford Room.
All rooms have had new safes, door locks and air conditioners installed.
The Crown Court pool has been completely redone and changes made to the Balalaika pool as well.
Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue at the Protea Hospitality Group, says the Protea Hotel Balalaika has a long and rich history in Sandton and is a Johannesburg institution.
“The hotel’s public areas look nothing short of magnificent with this refurbishment. The ambiance is upmarket, refined and elegant, which is perfectly suited to service the plethora of multinational companies that are headquartered in the Sandton area,” he said.
Protea Hotel Balalaika Hotel has been open for 64 years and is one of the elegant mainstays of the Sandton area.
