According to eturbonews, Qatar Airways will send the first of its long-awaited Airbus A380-800s to London Heathrow, followed by Paris Charles De Gaulle.

With three classes of seating over two decks, the wide-body aircraft is the largest passenger jet in the world. From the images in this YouTube clip, the seating should live up to expectations.

The planes are expected to start flying early next year, on routes with high passenger numbers and to slot-constrained airports.

In Africa, Qatar currently flies to Casablanca, Algiers, Tunis, Tripoli, Cairo, Luxor, Khartoum, Entebbe, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lagos and Maputo. The new Doha International Airport, due to open later this year after endless delays, has been purpose built to cater to the Airbus A380.
