According to eTNW, the French Consulate authority has updated its short-stay Schengen visa policy for South African passport holders applying at Capago centres in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
All short-stay Schengen visas – including business, tourist and family visits of up to 90 days – will be issued within two working days of application, provided all the necessary documentation is supplied. Previously, approval could take up to 15 days.
For the Durban office, the 48-hour period does not include transfer time from Johannesburg to Durban.
Applicants should also note that they will now be required to undergo a security search at Capago premises, following a request by the French Consular Authority.
