South African Tourism will be opening its first fully-fledged office in Lagos, Nigeria, on 10 December. The office will look after the West African region, particularly Ghana and Nigeria, whilst also monitoring other West African countries of interest.
By June 2013, South Africa had recorded figures of 40,097 Nigerian visitors and 13,663 from Ghana – both numbers up significantly on the 2012 figures, and proof that West Africa is an important market for SA Tourism.
According to South African Tourism, there is still huge growth potential for the West African markets and the opening of the SAT office in Lagos reaffirms that it is taking this market seriously.
