According to eTNWQatar Airways is celebrating becoming the first airline to operate scheduled flights using the Airbus A350 XWB, with a daily Doha-Frankfurt service.

From March the route will operate twice daily using a second A350. The next destination for the aircraft is expected to be Singapore, followed by several more destinations in Southeast Asia.

The new Airbus offers wider panoramic windows, 46cm-wide seats in Economy and larger overhead storage space. It also features air-conditioning that purifies the air every few minutes, lower cabin pressure, optimal humidity and LED mood lighting that adjusts to suit the day and time, and therefore minimise jet lag.

Qatar has 80 A350s on order, comprising 38 A350-900s and 42 A350-1000s. It will take delivery of eight A350-900s this year, as part of its 2015 Europe expansion programme.
